Shepherding the Church: Leading with a Pastor’s Heart
Spiritual leadership is more than strategy—it’s shepherding souls with Christlike care. In this deeply pastoral course, students will explore Shepherding the Church by Joseph Stowell, learning how to lead God’s people with wisdom, humility, and a heart rooted in love.
This course emphasizes the call to servant leadership, focusing on the biblical model of shepherding over corporate models of management. Students will examine key aspects of pastoral ministry including vision, character, teaching, care, and spiritual oversight. The goal is not just to lead effectively, but to lead faithfully.
Whether you're preparing for pastoral ministry or already serving in leadership, this course will inspire and equip you to tend to God’s flock with grace, courage, and conviction.

Important Note About Credentialing and Credit
Courses completed through the Arizona School of Ministry (ASOM) meet the educational requirements set by the Assemblies of God for each level of ministerial credential. However, completing the courses does not guarantee that you’ll receive a ministry credential. Credentialing is a separate process that includes an interview, application, and district approval.
ASOM is a non-accredited Bible institute, endorsed by the Executive Presbytery of the General Council of the Assemblies of God for ministry training. While many students benefit greatly from the coursework, credits do not automatically transfer to a college or university.
We’re here to help equip and prepare you for the call God has placed on your life—and we’ll walk with you every step of the way!
