Theology of Prayer: The Spirit Helps Us Pray

Prayer is more than a spiritual discipline—it’s a powerful, Spirit-led connection with the heart of God. In this course, students will develop a deeper understanding of the theology and practice of prayer, guided by the timeless wisdom of R.L. Brandt’s The Spirit Helps Us Pray.

Discover how the Holy Spirit shapes and empowers our prayer lives, and how biblical prayer brings transformation, intimacy with God, and impact in the world around us. This course will explore both personal and corporate prayer, intercession, and the divine partnership between human weakness and the Spirit’s strength.

Whether you're seeking to lead others in prayer, enrich your personal prayer life, or grow in your understanding of spiritual formation, this class will equip you with the theological depth and practical insight to do so.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the biblical foundations and theology of prayer
  • Explore the role of the Holy Spirit in effective, Spirit-led prayer
  • Gain confidence in intercessory prayer and spiritual sensitivity

Important Note About Credentialing and Credit

Courses completed through the Arizona School of Ministry (ASOM) meet the educational requirements set by the Assemblies of God for each level of ministerial credential. However, completing the courses does not guarantee that you’ll receive a ministry credential. Credentialing is a separate process that includes an interview, application, and district approval.

ASOM is a non-accredited Bible institute, endorsed by the Executive Presbytery of the General Council of the Assemblies of God for ministry training. While many students benefit greatly from the coursework, credits do not automatically transfer to a college or university.

We’re here to help equip and prepare you for the call God has placed on your life—and we’ll walk with you every step of the way!
