People of the Spirit: The Pentecostal Story and Identity

The Pentecostal movement has reshaped global Christianity—and its story is still being written. In this course, students will explore People of the Spirit by Gary B. McGee, an in-depth look at the history, theology, and global impact of the modern Pentecostal movement.

From its roots in the early 20th century to its present-day global expansion, this course traces how Pentecostals have lived out the Spirit-empowered life, emphasizing missions, spiritual gifts, holiness, and the return of Christ. Students will gain a deeper understanding of their spiritual heritage and how that legacy shapes their calling today.

Whether you're part of a Pentecostal church or seeking to understand Spirit-filled ministry more fully, this course will ground you in the movement’s story and inspire you to carry it forward.

Important Note About Credentialing and Credit

Courses completed through the Arizona School of Ministry (ASOM) meet the educational requirements set by the Assemblies of God for each level of ministerial credential. However, completing the courses does not guarantee that you’ll receive a ministry credential. Credentialing is a separate process that includes an interview, application, and district approval.

ASOM is a non-accredited Bible institute, endorsed by the Executive Presbytery of the General Council of the Assemblies of God for ministry training. While many students benefit greatly from the coursework, credits do not automatically transfer to a college or university.

We’re here to help equip and prepare you for the call God has placed on your life—and we’ll walk with you every step of the way!
